New Zealand are Number 1
Jamaica v New Zealand |
The inaugural Co-operative World Netball Series did indeed prove that netball just got hotter! Around 30,000 fans descended on the Manchester Evening News Arena to watch the top 6 netballing nations battle it out to become champion of the new Fastnet competition. For those at home – the entire tournament was broadcast live and exclusively on Sky Sports.
Televideo used flagship outside broadcast unit HD1 for the event, and from this control centre, Sky Sports programmes and the world feed coverage were broadcast simultaneously across the UK, and to Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica and France.
The tournament was a huge success, with New Zealand taking the win after a hard fought game against Jamaica in the final. Both the world feed coverage and the Sky productions were very well received. Paul Scivill, Managing Director of the Televideo Group, directed the coverage, and said after the event, “I am very pleased with how the job has gone, being on air for fifteen hours is a lot of pressure, but the crew did really well. Apart from a short power cut inside the arena which meant an emergency throw back to the studio, everything went as planned!”
