OB Training on a Go Karting Day
Members of the Televideo Training Academy proudly took the wheel yesterday, delivering an outside broadcast in its entirety. Five apprentices of the current cohort worked together to plan and prep for the 3-camera broadcast, which came from the Tyke Racing Go Karting Experience in Barnsley. The day tournament offered the team a great opportunity to put their broadcast skills in to action, under the supervision of Televideo’s Head of Outside Broadcasts, James Mitchell. Every aspect of the OB was handled by the academy team, from putting in the rig, setting up camera positions, programming the vision mixer, setting up the VizRT graphics system, the Hyperdeck records, and installing the EVS used for replays and building packages.
The Televideo Training Academy has now welcomed 19 students into the fold. The first group began in September 2016, and on finishing the 1-year course, 50% were offered and accepted full time positions within the company, moving up to trainee level within their chosen field. We currently have 10 apprentices at the company, joining us in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University’s Media degree, and Sheffield College’s Creative and Digital Media and Engineering Diplomas.
