The football season certainly started with a bang for Televideo this year, with a Match of the Day outside broadcast in high definition. The first weekend of the Premier League season saw crew travel to Wigan with flagship truck HD1, for a 10-camera, fully high definition job. The Televideo team were not expecting the shock result that rocked the nation however, as Wigan lost to newly promoted Blackpool with a staggering 4-0 score line. The game was the first shown on Match of the Day for the 2010/11 season.
Moving further north, Televideo were in Glasgow at the Ibrox Stadium for Rangers v Kilmarnock. For this 3-camera outside broadcast Televideo used one of the company’s more compact trucks, Unit 3. Rangers’ Chairman Alistair Johnstone unveiled the League Championship flag, and the defending champions then got off to a fine start taking a 2-1 win in their first game of the season.
Prior to this weekend Televideo got back into the football swing with three pre-season friendly matches. On Thursday 29th July the company covered the Tottenham Hotspurs v Villarreal game for Pitch International, with the second of this hat-trick of friendlies taking place just over a week later on Friday 7th August, with Spurs this time taking on Fiorentina. Earlier in the week Televideo were at the newly named DW Stadium for Wigan Athletic v Real Zaragoza, which was covered as a world feed for Spanish client Media Movil.
