Sunday 25th January saw Televideo produce another live programme for Sky Sports, this time the National Indoor Hockey Championships from the NIA in Birmingham. The 3 ½ hour show was packed full of thrilling indoor hockey action, as the country’s top 8 men’s and women’s teams battled it out to become the 2009 champions.
Televideo used HD1 on the event, with 7 cameras covering the action and helping to convey the electric atmosphere of the NIA to viewers at home. A super slow motion camera was also used to give extra angles on goals. VizRT graphics were adapted by the Televideo graphics department to work in conjunction with the indoor hockey format, and onsite statistics systems were link to the VizRT to provide viewers with consistent game statistics throughout the coverage.
The show was presented by Ingrid Hagemann, who was joined in the studio by a host of familiar faces from the hockey world, including former England and GB international players, Jennie Bimson, Chris Mayer and Brett Garrard. Nick Irvine commentated on the game action, which included the very best highlights from the men’s and women’s semi-finals, with the 2 final championship games being covered in full. The day came to a dramatic climax as Bowdon Hightown prevented Slough from an indoor hat-trick in the women’s final, winning the game 4-2, and East Grinstead became Indoor Hockey Kings as they beat Reading in an exciting clash which finished 8-5 |
