The pace picks up in the Televideo production department over the course of October and November, as the ‘winter’ productions kick off. As September marked the end of the BBC Super League Show production for 2011, it was straight into the start of the Rapid Solicitors Elite Ice Hockey League Show, with a slightly new format this year.
Presented by Anna Woolhouse and David Simms, this 1-hour long Sky Sports show travels to a different Elite League venue each week, catching up with familiar faces from across the competition, as well as delivering a round up from the best games. In addition to bringing fans of the sport the most up-to-date news and views, the show also includes special features, like the opportunity for ice hockey enthusiasts to take on Dave Simms – a self-confessed know-it-all – in ‘Simmsey Vs The Fans”. A selection of live 3-hours shows will be included across the season.
The company continue to produce Cage Warriors, a Mixed Martial Arts competition based in London. The events are aired as a world feed production for various world broadcasters, including Premier Sports in the UK. In September the Televideo production team once again travelled to Amman, Jordan, for the eagerly anticipated Fight Night 2, and then October 1st saw the competition return to the HMV Forum in London for Cage Warriors 44. For all UK events Televideo also provide the outside broadcast facilities for this production.
Staying in the ring, and the production team are looking forward to Friday 7th October when the first of a 6-show series begins for Premier Sports, covering the 'This is Hard Knocks' competition. The show will be presented by Andy Kerr, with Alex Steedman in commentary. It promises to be a great event to kick off the series, with a range of close encounters on the cards including the WBA Pan Asian Featherweight Title between Choi and Padjai, and the British Masters Light Welter Title between Darren Hamilton and Dave Ryan.
Into November and Televideo will hit the courts as both netball and basketball programming begins. The British Basketball League show is back for a second year on Sky Sports, and will once again follow the best of the 2011 BBL action including the BBL Cup, Trophy and Championship . This year the series will include even more live programming, beginning with a live show on Tuesday 15th November. Basketball is hugely popular in the UK and the best of British can certainly bring in the crowds and TV audiences – with some big signings from the US, it looks set to be a great season.
The world’s top netballing nations will once again be gathering at the Echo Arena for the third World Netball Series, and after losing in the dying seconds of last year’s final, England will no doubt be out to steal the crown from last year’s winners New Zealand. This 3-day event is broadcast live on Sky Sports, as well as being taken by worldwide broadcasters including TVNZ. Presented by Ingrid Hagemann, the show features all the Fastnet games throughout the tournament, as well as interviews, analysis and as always, the latest views from the country’s top netball pundits. All the action begins on Sky Sports on Friday 25th November.
To end November with a bang Televideo will also be covering an Olympic Test event for the International Table Tennis Federation – the 2011 ITTF Pro Tour Grand Finals will take place at London’s Excel Arena from 24th – 27th November, and looks set to be be a thrilling taster for what’s to come from this Olympic sport. Televideo will provide world feed coverage as well as 3 1-hour highlights shows for Sky Sports, to be aired the following week.
