The start to 2011 has certainly been a hectic one for Televideo, with sports productions including basketball, table tennis, ice hockey, rugby league, short track speed skating, and netball.

Rugby League

Televideo are pleased to produce a fourth consecutive season of the Super League Show for the BBC. Presented by Harry Gration, with regular guests including Brian Noble and Robbie Hunter-Paul, the show focuses on the very best of the action from around the Engage Super League. We kicked off the season from Millennium Magic in Cardiff, where Harry and the team anchored their coverage from inside the Millennium Stadium, soaking up the infectious atmosphere.

Televideo’s production team coordinate the editing of all the highlights, and produce any features focusing on relevant news stories from the league. The programme is usually filmed at the BBC Leeds studios, but we often go out and about, filming from the World Club Challenge Final in Wigan and from various clubs in the league.

The Super League Show is shown on BBC One in the North every Sunday, with a national repeat on BBC Two early on a Monday morning. The show is also available on the BBC iPlayer.

The rugby league production team branched out and joined forces with university clubs a few tiers down from Super League, as the BUCS Super 8s competition enjoyed television coverage on Premier Sport. A short series of programmes followed the progress of the British Universities and College Sports Rugby League Super 8s championship, which saw live broadcasts from Gloucester, Loughborough and Northumbria.

Basketball

The exciting BBL season continues on Sky Sports. Televideo’s 2011 coverage tipped off with a live programme covering the BBL Cup Final at the National Indoor Arena in January. The Sheffield Sharks upset the form book by trouncing league leaders the Mersey Tigers in an exciting match. Sky Sports News favourite, Julian Warren hosted the 2.5 hour programme, which included features, behind the scenes interviews, slam-dunk competitions, and of course full coverage of the basketball game.  This season has been the closest BBL campaign for a long time, with several teams eyeing up the Championship. Televideo’s coverage will end with the live playoff final on Saturday 30th April.

Table Tennis

Sheffield hosted the 66th English Table Tennis Open from the English Institute of Sport and for the second year Televideo were delighted to world feed coverage of the exciting finals of the competition.  Working with the International Table Tennis Federation, Televideo provided full coverage to an audience around the world, most notably to China and the Far East, where table tennis has huge following. Televideo then produced three 1-hour highlights programmes for Sky Sports, following the very best of the quarter, semi and finals action.

Ice hockey

The Elite League continues to provide great action from around the UK, and Televideo are enjoying producing the only comprehensive coverage of the league. Our weekly highlights show, which is broadcast on Sky Sports, provide plenty of points for discussion amongst the fans. Each month a select game is aired live in a 3-hour show, fronted by former player Nick Rothwell.  The Elite League playoff final is fast approaching, and all that exciting action will be live on Sky Sports on Sunday 3rd April.

Fiat Netball Super League

Our coverage of the Fiat Netball Super League continues to entertain the many netball fans who tune in regularly. Our weekly coverage includes a full game, weekly highlights, special features and news and views from across the world of netball. Presenter Ingrid Hagemann is joined by experts and players in the studio.  The show is broadcast on Sky Sports each Thursday night, with big games enjoying live coverage.
