Televideo’s summer and winter sports programmes collided last weekend in the inevitable ‘cross-over period’, resulting in an extremely busy weekend for the production department, and a handful of Televideo shows hitting the airwaves!

The last programme of the BBC 1 series The Super League Show was aired on BBC 1 at 5.40pm on Sunday 5th September. The season began in February of this year, and has included live outside broadcasts from rugby league venues across the country, as well as ‘on-the-road’ programmes where presenters, reporters, guests and crew travelled to the most exciting game of the week and brought viewers the latest action right from the heart of the Super League clubs.

The final programme of the 28-show series was live from the BBC Leeds studios – presenter Harry Gration was joined by regular studio guests Robbie Paul and Iestyn Harris, and together the panel looked back on a fantastic season, and made predictions for the upcoming playoffs. James Mitchell, producer of The Super League Show said, “Its been a brilliant year and once again we have all thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone at BBC Leeds, especially Harry and Tanya who have presented the show.”

Over on Channel 4, another Televideo production was broadcast. British Basketball: Game On 2010 is presented by former GB wheelchair basketball star Ade Adepitan, and this week focussed on the GB Standard Life Men in the last home match of their Eurobasket campaign. GB were victorious over Bosnia and Herzegovina in a thrilling game that went to over-time, and therefore qualified to take a place in the European Championships 2011. The final show of the 4-programme series will feature the GB Standard Life Women as they take on Germany.

The evening before the Televideo team had been at the Trent FM arena to kick off the new season of the Elite Ice Hockey League show for Sky Sports, which this year takes on a new format. There will be a live 3-hour programme each month, bringing fans of ice hockey a full game as well as features, interviews and analysis.  This show will be presented by Nick Rothwell, with David Simms and Rick Strachan in commentary. For the rest of the month David Simms takes the reins and presents a one-hour highlights show, providing a full round up of the week’s best Elite Ice Hockey League action, as well as studio chat and special features. The Elite Ice Hockey League show is broadcast on Friday evenings on Sky Sports.

The season started with a great game in a replay of last year's Playoff Final, as the Nottingham Panthers played host to reigning champions the belfast Giants. The game had everything a hockey fan wants and more - great action, a couple of fights, extra time and penalties! The Televideo team now look forward to the rest of the ice hockey season.
