Televideo are delighted to be working for the BBC on the world’s longest running children’s television show, Blue Peter. The programme has hit the road over the last few months, and Televideo have been travelling far and wide with the Blue Peter team providing the outside broadcast facilities.

The events began on Thursday 1st March as the show celebrated World Book day at the University of Manchester’s renowned John Ryland’s Library. A live outside broadcast was aired from the Historic Reading Room, with the programme being presented by Helen Skelton and Barney Harwood.

The next stop for the team was Harry Potter World in Hertfordshire, where the show was broadcast from a variety of different locations around the impressive film set – with viewers able to enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at how and where the series of films were made.

Blue Peter’s Big Olympic tour began on Saturday 26th May – this all-new Saturday morning programme will follow the Olympic Torch up and down the country, and get viewers in the spirit for London 2012. Each show is live at 9am, and so far the Televideo team have travelled to Caerphilly, Belfast and Dumbarton helping the BBC production team to capture the excitement of the Olympics.

Over the course of the Blue Peter event, Televideo have used OB unit HD2 – one of the smaller trucks on our fleet, ideal for work where parking space can be at a premium. In spite of its size, HD2 has an 8-camera capacity, and can be set up in various ways to allow the technical and production team all the flexibility they need.

Televideo crew members from sound, vision, VT, camera and rigging departments have worked alongside the Blue Peter production team to ensure all jobs run smoothly.

The next event comes live from Burnley, with more events scheduled throughout the summer, ending in East London on Sunday 22nd July as the Olympic Torch reaches the Olympic stadium in time for the Opening Ceremony on 27th July.
