After 14 rounds, the 2012 British Superbikes season culminated at Brands Hatch last weekend, with Shane ‘Shaky’ Byrne taking the title for a third time in his career.
Televideo have provided outside broadcast facilities to client Motor Sport Vision for 12 consecutive years, with coverage taken by Eurosport in the UK. Some exciting additions to the specification helped make the sport all the more thrilling for the television audience this year - the company were delighted that the production moved into High Definition, with our newest unit, HD4, used as the main race truck, in conjunction with the more compact HD3, which cut the in-vision pres. The use of hyper-motion cameras at a number of events made for some incredible replays, the most memorable position being at ‘the Mountain’ at Cadwell Park.
This year brought about a location first for the competition, as the British Superbikes travelled to mainland Europe. The legendary TT Circuit Assen opened its doors for the opening round of a three-event ‘Showdown’. The Televideo team spent a busy few weeks in September, moving from Donington Park, to Assen, and then straight back to Silverstone in the space of just a few weeks.
The end of the British Superbikes always heralds the start of the winter months for Televideo, but the crew look forward to another exciting and successful season in 2013.
