Televideo Announce Major Expansion

New HD units added to the fleet

8th July 2014

Televideo are delighted to announce the acquisition of two High Definition Outside Broadcast units, to add to the company’s growing fleet. Following on from the announcement that fellow OB providers SIS live were to withdraw from the marketplace, Televideo entered into negotiations to purchase two of their flagship units, OB3 and OB7.

The two units are built and engineered to an incredibly high standard and will be renamed HD7 and HD8 to tie in with the company’s existing OB fleet.

HD7 is a large, single expanding unit - fully HD with a Sony vision mixer, Calrec sigma bluefin surround sound audio, Evertz matrices/signal distribution and Reidel talkback.

HD8 has an identical engineering design, a higher equipment specification with triple expanding sides, giving a spacious and versatile production layout, with a 20-camera capacity.  The units are ideal for joint operations or as stand-alone units.

Other significant assets have also been bought by the Sheffield-based business, including a large number of Sony HDC2500 camera channels, EVS servers, and a comparable range of lenses and support equipment.

The newest addition to the Televideo fleet is HD9; a smaller 4-camera OB unit with a dual-thread HD uplink system. Completed in July 2014 by FAL systems, HD9 will fill the need for a small footprint HD OB unit with a built in HD satellite uplink.

Managing Director, Paul Scivill said of the expansion, “We are delighted to increase our fleet with prestigious and highly regarded OB units that are leading edge technology. This acquisition signals the beginning of a major expansion for Televideo, and we look forward to opportunities to work on new large-scale events, and provide our existing clients with a wider and enhanced choice of facilities.

The timing of this acquisition is ideal and ties in with the opening of our Scottish OB premises and our exciting new relationship with mneTV, for whom we will be providing facilities in Scotland to cover Football, Rugby and Shinty, to be shown live on BBC Alba”.
