Televideo’s first production for BT Sport took place at the Copper Box Arena earlier this month – as the EuroBasket qualifiers came to the capital city. The company were delighted to provide both outside broadcast and production resources to new clients BT Sport, on behalf of GB Basketball, and on the evenings of Wednesday 13th and Wednesday 20th August, produced live 2.5 hour programmes following GB’s campaign to qualify for EuroBasket 2015.
One of the newest units on the fleet, HD7was used as the hub of the 10-camera operation, which was both a world feed for international takers, and a domestic broadcast for BT. Fronted by Helen Skelton, who was joined by former GB star Flinder Boyd, the BT production featured interviews and analysis, as well as a focus on the current lack of funding basketball is currently suffering in the UK. Viewers, guided by expert commentary from Daniel Routlegde and London Lions Coach Vince Macaulay, witnessed GB in hard-fought defeats against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Iceland respectively, leaving the national side out of the 2015 EuroBasket competition for the first time since GB’s inception in 2006.
Despite the disappointing score lines, both the event and the BT Sport production were well-received, with in-house and television audiences alike enjoying the sheer determination of GB’s performance in both games. The enthusiasm of the talent team contributed to a great production, which the Televideo team were very pleased to have been a part of.
