As we move through April and May we see resolution and conclusion in much of our sporting calendar, as the showpiece finals in ice hockey, basketball and netball take centre stage.

Continuing our 5-year relationship with the EIHL, Televideo were on hand at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham to produce the Elite Ice Hockey League Play Off Final, live for Sky Sports on Sunday 7th April.  In front of a crowd of 7000 fans, the ‘big guns’ of British hockey prepared for battle - the Nottingham Panthers and the Belfast Giants squared off in a showdown for all the spoils and final glory in the last game of the season.  With 13 cameras and a full HD broadcast, it was a show that had an impressive technical set up befitting the spectacle of the occasion.

A presentation team led by Anna Woolhouse, Dave Simms and Chris Ellis fronted our production for the 3-hour broadcast on Sky Sports 3. In what was a compelling final and a dramatic finish, Nottingham Panthers came out on top to secure the play off trophy and to complete the Grand Slam for the 2012/13 season.  The live final was a thrilling conclusion to the 32-programme series Televideo have produced for broadcaster Sky Sports this year.

From the ice to the hardwood, the 2012/13 BBL season brought us the usual standards of high paced, frenetic excitement that has made basketball one of the most popular sports worldwide. The BBL Playoff Final from Wembley Arena, was the third live showpiece event of the Sky Sports series, following on from successful broadcasts from the BBL Trophy and Cup Finals. Once again, Televideo were on hand for a live Sky Sports HD broadcast that included a specification of 11 cameras including RFs, Jimmy Jib and Super-slos, and VizRT graphics.

The final once again saw the top 2 teams in the league pitted against each other, as the Leicester Riders and the Newcastle Eagles went head to head, but it was the Riders who cemented their status as the top team in the league and brought home their second trophy of the season.  Presenter Tony Wrighton fronted the 3-hour production, with Daniel Routledge in commentary and Mark Woods on-hand with all the courtside news.

The last of Televideo’s Sky Sports productions came to a close at the University of Worcester’s new Sports Arena, as the Netball Superleague held their 2013 final in front of a packed-out crowd, and live on Sky Sports 4.  Our 7th consecutive year as television partners for England Netball has proved to be one of the most exciting and surprising yet, with a dark horse in the form of the Celtic Dragons taking one of the spots in the Showdown Final, coming up against 4 x champions Team Bath.

The on-screen netball team, headed by presenter Ingrid Hagemann, have been with Sky viewers every step of the way over the course of the 25-show series, with highlights this year including England’s historical victories over world number one Australia earlier in the year. The last game of the Superleague season proved to be no different, with the lead changing and the game tied on many occasions, right up until the final 3 minutes when Team Bath took the lead, beating the Celtic Dragons 62-56.
