Less than 2 weeks after the World Indoor singles title was taken by Darren Burnett at Great Yarmouth, The World Bowls tour once again made it’s way to the seaside as The Newton Hall Holiday Park in Blackpool hosted the Co-Operative Funeralcare International Open 2014. All the biggest names in the game were on hand including World Number 1 Paul Foster and the newly crowned World Indoor Champion Darren Burnett.
The tournament ran from Sunday 2nd February until Friday 7th February, with Televideo on hand from the Wednesday to take in all the action for 5 live shows on Sky Sports. The Sky Sports coverage was fronted by Charlie Brougham who, along with the Televideo crew, had a busy few days - with 2 shows each day on Wednesday and Thursday, as the tournament at Newton Hall reached the exciting latter stages. For the final on Friday evening, the crowd as well as the Sky Sports viewers at home were treated to a feast of excellent bowling, with Paul Foster ultimately proving too good for Nick Brett, to take the International Open Championship for 2014.
The 5-camera coverage included 2 Jimmy Jibs to capture every critical play, 2 EVS machines to allow for the talent team to discuss the action in between sets, and Sky Sports VIzRT graphics. Televideo look forward to more exciting coverage later in the year.
