April was a busy month in the British Swimming calendar with the British Gas Swimming Championships, British Gas Synchronised Swimming Championships, British Para-Swimming International Meet and the FINA Diving World Series all taking place in the space of two weeks at venues across the UK. All events were covered by Televideo and broadcast across a range of media platforms.

First was the British Gas Swimming Championships from the purpose-built Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow. With top swimmers from all over the country competing at the 6-day event, there was plenty of interest from the sporting world, and with every session being streamed live on the British Swimming website, fans didn’t have to miss a minute of the action. The final 3 days were broadcast live on Sky Sports, for which the specification was increased to 7 cameras.  Presenter Rachel Wyse was joined by Keri Anne Payne to front the coverage, with expert commentary from Bob Ballard and Jo Jackson.

The same weekend, the British Gas Synchronised Swimming was taking place at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, with the coverage being streamed live on the British Swimming website. Less than a week later, there was more online action for swimming fans, as Televideo were back in Glasgow at the Tollcross International Swimming centre from Friday 18th to Monday 21st April, for the British Para Swimming International Meet. The event is one of the largest open competitions for disability swimming in the world and attracts teams from countries all over the world.

The busy month was signed off with the FINA Diving World Series at the newly adapted Aquatic Centre at Queen Elizabeth Park in London. The 3-day event featured some of the biggest names in diving and Televideo produced the entire event for all international broadcasters on the World Feed.  On Sunday evening a live Sky Sports show was produced simultaneously alongside the world feed, and the viewers witnessed two very tense finals as the world’s best battled it out in the Women’s and Men’s 10m Platform Final.  Rachel Wyse fronted the coverage, as all eyes were on Tom Daley to see if he could take gold in his home pool.  Tom was unable to podium on this occasion, but with several records broken throughout the 3 days, the sport continues to thrill and capture the interest of viewers worldwide.
