7th February 2007

Kaiser Chiefs take to the stage

The band in HD1

The one-off gig, which sold out in a staggering ten minutes, was hosted by Radio One, and will be shown on the BBC’s red button (available on all digital BBC channels) between the 12 th-18 th February. It will also be online, and a Kaiser Chiefs Special with Zane Lowe can be heard on Radio 1 from
7-10pm on Monday 12 th February.

The event used the company’s high definition outside broadcast unit, HD1. Specifications included 8 Sony HDC-1500 cameras, consisting of 2 x Canon HJ86 lenses at the rear of the venue, 5 x Canon HJ11s, an ENG crowd point of view cam, and a Fuji HA13 wide-angle lens, used on a 30-foot Jib. All cameras were run on fibre cable. A PeeWee dolly and track were positioned in front of the stage to ensure that the electric atmosphere of the concert was captured for the television audience. Mastered in HD and 5.1 surround sound, the show was recorded with the highest quality pictures and sound, enabling both HD and SD transmission.

It was a fantastic event - the concert featured songs from the Kaiser Chief’s first album, ‘Employment’ as well as new material from ‘Yours Truly, Angry Mob’ including their latest hit, ‘Ruby’. The Chiefs were joined at the Dome by Radio 1 DJs and an excited crowd of thousands. For the many disappointed fans across the country who failed to get tickets for this intimate gig, the show will be available simply by pushing the red button!
