January and February were football months for Televideo, with 13 games being covered for BBC’s Match of the Day. First were the FA Cup 3 rd round matches, beginning on Saturday 6 th January with Leicester v Fulham, Hull v Middlesborough and Birmingham v Newcastle. On Sunday 7 th January Televideo covered Sheffield Wednesday v Manchester City, much to the delight of the Wednesday fans amongst the OB staff. Third round replays were also covered by the company - Fulham v Leicester and Tottenham Hotspurs v Cardiff on Wednesday 17 th January.

The FA Cup 4 th round saw Televideo at Birmingham v Reading, Fulham v Stoke and Tottenham v Southend, all played on Saturday 27 th January. This busy weekend saw the majority of the company’s OB fleet out on the road, with the England Test Series final being covered at Wembley Arena that same evening. Units 1, 3 and 5 were used, as well as Televideo’s high definition unit, HD1, used at Tottenham.

In February, the 5 th round demanded outside broadcasts at the Plymouth v Derby match, Watford v Ipswich, and Middlesborough v West Brom. The latter match was then replayed on Tuesday 27 th. All matches were for BBC’s Match of the Day.

As well as FA Cup games, Televideo also covered the international friendly between Greece and South Korea, from Craven Cottage on Tuesday 6th February.
