Italy celebrate
England U21s Goal |
Televideo were proud to be amongst the first Outside Broadcast companies present as the new Wembley Stadium threw open it’s doors to football fans from across the country. The £800million venue will be the new home of English football, and on Saturday 24 th March 2007 Wembley was christened when the England U21 team played Italy in an international friendly.
The company was not short of volunteers to work on this particular job, and a crew of 10 Televideo staff members were impressed by the spectacular new venue, as were the 55,700 fans who were able to get tickets to the match. The game sold out in 6 hours, and the staggering attendance was a world record for an Under 21s match. The crowds saw a 3-3 draw, but despite England being unable to take the win, the atmosphere and experience of the new stadium left crowds and television audiences in high spirits, and looking forward to more football from Wembley across the summer months.
Televideo used HD1 to cover the game for Octagan BT Vision, for their production for Italian broadcaster, Rai Uno. The game was broadcast live in Italy.
