Televideo last week took delivery of a new fully synchronous twinset generator, which was first used on the British Superbikes at Mondello Park in Ireland on Sunday 17 th June. The unit supplied power for the whole operation – a 16-camera host coverage outside broadcast, the ITV pres outside broadcast, the ITV graphics truck, the BBC on board truck and both the ITV and Sky uplink trucks, and ran at only 21% capacity.
The unit adds to Televideo’s already impressive fleet of generator systems, and is the company’s second fully synchronous power source. Power failure would be a disastrous circumstance at any live television operation, which is why Televideo operate their own silenced twin and single generator sets. The new unit will supply up to 250amps per phase (750amps fully redundant power) from each set, or 1500amps in total across both sets.
We are now able to supply power for the biggest of our operations without the worry of sub-hire or the use of local power.
