Televideo are delighted to have secured a contract to produce The Super League Show, the BBC’s rugby league highlights programme, broadcast every week in the North West, Yorkshire & North Midlands, North East & Cumbria, and East Yorkshire & Lincolnshire regions. The 32-programme series will be aired on Sundays, beginning on Sunday 3rd February.
The Super League Show will be presented by Harry Gration, with Robbie Paul as a regular studio guest, to be joined each week by familiar faces from around the world of rugby league. Dave Woods will be the principal commentator on the show, which will feature the best action from the week’s games, as well as features, competitions, game analysis and debates on the sport’s current issues. Televideo aim to build on the past success of the Super League Show, concentrating on the ‘community-deep’ aspect of rugby league, as well as introducing interactivity for viewers and fans travelling to Sunday afternoon games.
The majority of programmes will come from The Super League Show’s Leeds studio, however Televideo will take 10 shows on-the-road, travelling to rugby grounds across the country to bring action from the heart of the sport, joining teams and fans as they prepare for the afternoon’s games. The company hope that by taking the programme to the people, the Super League Show will become an integral part of each week’s rugby league action, a means of getting across topical issues and debates within the sport. Televideo’s Richard Coventry and Neal Coupland will be series producers, Richard comments on his plans for the new-look Super League Show, “We aim to be involved in the sport at all levels, providing game-wide action and comment with community-deep features. With the Outside Broadcasts, we will take the BBC Super League Show to the very heart of the game”.
The first programme will be shown on BBC 2 on Sunday 3rd February at 5.25pm, and will feature highlights from the first game of the season, as champions Leeds Rhinos take on the Hull Kingston Rovers at Headingley, in a Round 4 match rescheduled due to Leeds taking part in the Carnegie World Club Challenge later in the season. Ireland and Dewsbury Rams coach Andy Kelly will be in the studio, and viewers can look forward to an exciting start to the new season, with features, competitions, game analysis and studio debates.
