National Festival of Making for the BBC

Televideo provide OB and streaming facilities
The very first National Festival of Making took place in Blackburn this weekend, in celebration of the region’s creative making heritage and the bright future ahead. Televideo flew the northern flag, providing outside broadcast and streaming facilities to BBC North and BBC Events.
On Saturday morning it was an early start for the crew, with live 2-way inserts each hour into BBC Breakfast. In the afternoon the BBC Food Facebook page hosted four live cookery sessions. Blue Peter’s Lindsay Russell was joined by celebrity chefs and other famous faces, to showcase their favourite dishes to the 500,000 BBC Food Facebook followers and the live studio audience. A quick studio change took place overnight, and the next morning the kids took centre stage. Fifty bright-eyed members of the ‘Let’s Go’ club showed off their making skills in front of the cameras, for broadcast on CBBC.
Televideo’s HD7 was the hub of the 6-camera OB, which used a mixture of studio peds, aerial tracking cameras and RF cameras. Graphics were designed by Televideo for use on VizRT. The company’s uplink unit HD9 was used to provide the feed to BBC Breakfast, whilst a Tricaster streaming system delivered the output to the BBC’s Facebook platform.
